I've picked some work out from my A-level work, either a-level photography, Art or graphics... There are some photos of the maxi dress i printed material for and made...had some sort of tribal vibe i think! Dont think i will be wearing it any time soon but it was good to make!...It was measured on me... so i had to model the dress! So some of the poses are a bit unfortunate- however i do like the movement in some of the photos which kind of shows off the dress...
The second set of photos are for my photography where i made my boyfriend dress up in his golf gear....shoes included and made him stand around in all the mud and sludge at a pound near my home. (Soudley Ponds) I tried several locations, under a tree....with the ducks!...in front of the pond...but found that sat on the wall near a little bridge over a stream was the best outcome and enjoyed editing them...
For this assignment we were asked to promote a dress made and given to us by second year fashion design students. The idea was that the dress was the main garment as part of a Spring Summer collection for a high street retailer, (i chose French Connection).
The dress i was given was not obviously summery so that was something i had to consider when styling the dress and my model for the photo shoot. I then had to consider what promotional material i was going to produce once i had done the photo shoot. This was to run alongside a Press release and a customer profile which would be aimed at my retailers target market.
As the dress i was given was a floor length, lightweight dress i focused one of my promotional materials on the movement of the dress in the photo shoot by making a Flip book. I also made an invitation to a V.I.P French Connection event and a receipt holder. This was all put into a Press pack complete in a box made to follow the running theme of the photo shoot. As another promotional idea i also made some stickers with the recognisable image on to be put on all £1 coins in the till so when change is given to customers the £1 coins with the stickers on will circulate throughout the high-street giving extra promotion to French Connection.
I also ordered a cotton tote 'bag for life' with one of the main promotional image printed on it, but that didn't turn up on time so i couldn't submit it.
This individual assignment was based around the model and their interests. This meant that we had to find and interview our model in order to find things out about them to get inspiration for the photo shoot. My model used the train every week to go home so that is where i got the location of the shoot from. She is also a dancer which is where the styling came from. Make-up was done by Dior at Debenham's and i hired the tutu from a local dance shop in Preston.
For my first assignment, year 1, at university we were split into small groups and given a film title. This film was our starting point from which we had to be inspired by and to style a photoshoot. We were then given a charity shop (banardos) which we had to source and buy our clothing for the shoot from, promoting the film along with the charity shop.
I think we did really well to fins the military element needed to represent topgun using charity shop items on a budget of £15.
